I think I’ll run it at 4 FPS.

That’s the first time I’ve seen an SSD as a requirement. What kind of textures are they gonna be streaming in this thing?

Remember when Microsoft was selling DX12 as “DX11 with more efficient rendering and more performance!” Man, that seems like so long ago.

Not even that interested because the UWP format Microsoft uses is completely fucked. No native fullscreen, no wheel support, no multi gpu support, vsync issues, and many other issues you don’t encounter in a standard .exe. All those issues for an extremely watered down version of a game that looks damn good running at 1080p 60fps on the Xbox one.

I just need an i7 in my personal rig. In ~3 weeks I’ll be there.

With how cheap SSDs are nowadays, everyone should have one.

I do (it’s my Steam drive), but I’ve never seen a game flat out say “you need one”.

I’ve got everything that I need for 1080p/60FPS, but I’m concerned as to how far it’ll push my 970.

A free watered down version of the Xbox One version. And wheel support is coming, just not at launch.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw big changes to UWP, since every major release they’ve had has been a disaster in one way or another.

Man I better get an i5 and related. At least just to run the thing.

I don’t know if I should do this. I mean I have 6 on the Xbox, but the whole “Forza on computer” idea just mesmerizes me.
Happily, my machine meets the minimum specs. So it’ll probably be running at like 15 FPS.

Probably. That’s what I get on Arma 3 after I run out of VRAM or whatever the issue is.

I’ve had a 970 since release and I’m still amazed with how well it handles everything I’ve thrown at it. Also, Nvidia just released new drivers for the Forza beta.
Also, apparently the first Pascal cards are launching on Friday, and they sound like they’re going to be monsters.

It’s a bit different than Forza 6 proper, being free with only 62 cars (with all others being purchasable eventually via microtransactions) and a different overall structure. I get the feeling, though, its purpose is to act as a way to hold PC gamers over until Forza 7, which I wouldn’t be surprised gets a Windows version as well, with there not really being any Gran Forzaismo-style racing games on the PC, and Microsoft’s whole unified Xbox/Windows gaming platform thing.

I’m just surprised it took this long for Forza to hit PC at all. Like I said, there hasn’t really ever been a GT/Forza-style midlevel-sim “CarPG” released on the PC. The closest we’ve had is the NFS Shift games, and those aren’t really the same.

My PCs do server duty these days. I’m hoping for some cross platform play down the road tho.

They are going to have to make massive fundamental changes to the way UWP works if it is going to work as a gaming platform. UWP was designed so you could have the same twitter app on your pc, phone, and tablet, not running AAA titles.

Their focus has shifted to making Windows 10 and the Xbox One a unified gaming platform, so I’m pretty sure changes are inevitable.

Except they are forgetting that no one else is ever going to use UWP and the Microsoft store over the existing .exe and steam combo that works 1000x better. Microsoft is trying to fix a problem that doesn’t exist just so that they can have more control.

It’s frustrating since they have an opportunity to totally dominate the digital PC games market (and software market in general) on Windows 10 through the store’s integration with the OS, but they are totally half-assing pretty much everything about it. The best example is how Xbox is a totally separate application from the software you use to get the games that use it in the first place, and if you want to get the most out of your Xbox controller when playing them, you need to use yet another application.
I mean, GFWL was a pile of shit, but at least it integrated itself into games in a way that made sense.

My only quibble with the 970 is that I can’t play GTA V at 1080p/60FPS while using the in-game AA options or DSR (I haven’t overclocked it); I like it otherwise.
The May launch for Pascal is a surprise; I was under the impression it’d be in June.

Here’s their countdown thingy. The GTX 1080 and the GTX 1070 are going to be the first two out of the gate, allegedly each having 8 gig of HBM DDR5, presumably to facilitate the whole “unused VRAM can be used as system memory” feature.
Seriously, though, if they deliver on the performance they’ve been promising (the 1000-series cards being twice as powerful as the equivalent number 900-series, with the 1080 outperforming the Titan X), I’m definitely going to set some money aside for a 1070.

It better not just be a console port. Especially if i shell out some cash for a desktop only pad. I need to see what the game can look like in 2k 60+fps.

Luckily the new PC I built for 4K/VR is running Windows 10. There is no point in getting 8 anymore since windows will forcibly update you at some point.

Not the same kind of game at all. Those are driving and pretty much just driving, with none of the “race, earn money, buy parts, earn more money, buy faster car, repeat”.
